The mission of The Learning Technologies Division is to improve the human condition through the application of new and emerging theories and technologies of learning. To support this mission we will pursue the following goals: to foster creative, effective and cross-disciplinary research into improving teaching and learning at the intersection of the learning sciences and instructional technology; to serve as a nexus for communications and creativity for researchers and practitioners in disciplines related to digital media, information science and learning; to conduct and promote socially responsive and responsible research consistent with missions of the college and university; to reduce the lag time between the advent of new technologies and their effective use in education; to identify those new technologies which are most likely to have an impact on education and reduce wasted effort in pursuing those technologies less likely to be effective; to position Georgia State University as a leader for research in technological innovation for education.
