CHRONOMARK: Transforming Browser Bookmarks from Storage to Re-Entry

Abstract

The rapid growth of online information has made it increasingly difficult for users to focus on and manage saved content. Motivated by fear of missing valuable information, many people accumulate large numbers of browser bookmarks but rarely revisit them, creating long-term clutter and anxiety. This problem is especially visible in tools with limited organizational support, such as Google Chrome’s built-in bookmarking system. CHRONOMARK is a UI/UX design project that seeks to reduce digital hoarding anxiety by improving navigation within Chrome bookmarks. The study examines Chrome’s existing bookmark features, user feedback from online reviews and forums, and self-testing to identify recurring usability issues. Based on these findings, the project develops a prototype emphasizing clear navigation, structured retrieval, and supportive interactions, helping users turn saved content into accessible and purposeful resources.
