Abstract
Young adults with motor impairments often face significant barriers to performing self-care activities, including grooming, hygiene, and makeup application, which can limit independence, self-expression, and participation in daily life. Despite this, there has been limited research regarding how motor impairments directly affect participation in self-care and grooming activities as well as the psychosocial consequences of being excluded from these activities. The purpose of this capstone project was to design, implement, and evaluate an adaptive self-care program for individuals with motor impairments at Champions Place, an accessible living community in Roswell, Georgia. The sessions and resources completed and created in this project highlights the value of combining individual-centered setups, adaptive equipment utilization and creation, as well as individual and group-based sessions to support independence and self-expression in young adults with motor impairments in their everyday life.
