Abstract
Wheelchair sports improve the quality of life, support physical health, improve mental health, and create a community for athletes (Chen et al., 2024). Wheelchair lacrosse is a growing adaptive sport offering a new opportunity to wheelchair athletes across the country; however, there are no current video demonstrations with explanations to improve skill development and injury prevention. The objectives of this study were to develop educational videos for wheelchair lacrosse athletes to increase their knowledge of skills used in the sport and injury prevention exercises. After the creation of 6 educational videos covering various wheelchair lacrosse skills and injury prevention exercise routines, a mixed-methods approach was used to evaluate usability and perceived knowledge gained from the videos. Findings from the pre- and post- retrospective surveys indicated a significant increase in respondents’ perceived knowledge for three of the six educational videos. The results also revealed that respondents found the educational videos usable. In conclusion, OTs can play a crucial role in wheelchair lacrosse by producing educational videos to promote participation by improving skills with adaptive strategies and providing injury prevention strategies.
