Abstract

This paper explores the role of occupational therapy in providing trauma-informed care to adults, highlighting the importance of integrating trauma-informed principles into practice. Trauma, regardless of its origin, can profoundly impact the lives of individuals. In consideration to this, occupational therapy practitioners are gradually beginning to embrace the concept of implementing trauma-informed principles in their organizations and in their everyday practice. Following a comprehensive review of the literature, this capstone research paper aims to develop practical resources to support the role of occupational therapists in treating adults who have experienced trauma. Furthermore, this paper explores trauma, its impact, and how occupational therapy practitioners can empower their clients and promote healing, recovery, and an improved quality of life.
