Audiologists are essential health care providers that need ongoing training in order to accurately identify and manage newborns, infants, and children with hearing impairment. In Georgia, although there is a large audiology workforce, many lack the proper knowledge and skills in providing audiological care for children. In order to improve care and understating, this guide was developed to be an all-inclusive resource for audiologists who assist in monitoring hospital screening programs, conduct follow-up screening and diagnostic evaluations, as well as audiological habilitation for children identified with hearing impairment. Additionally, information on mandated reporting of audiological results and resources post identification, hearing aids and intervention resources, has been included. The intended use of this guide is to disseminate through Georgia’s Department of Public Health and Georgia Academy of Audiology through email, website posting, and community and professional meetings.
