Abstract

Survivors of sexual violence experience unique, long-lasting detrimental impacts to their sexual health and well-being including increased sexual shame, reduced sexual self-efficacy, and diminished sexual self-perception. There are currently no known sex education programs designed specifically for survivors of sexual violence to overcome these challenges. This thesis describes the development and attempted test of Sex Education with Survivors (SEWS), a program created to address these gaps. While the thesis faced challenges and ultimately did not yield any empirical results, the intervention is promising and considerations for future implementation are discussed.
