Abstract

This collection contains an exploration of power through poetry. It will address issues such as religion, social hierarchies, education, athletics and family. Many of the poems written in first person examine the poet’s personal experiences as a child, a teacher, and a coach. Though most of the poems in the collection are written in free verse, a handful of poems are structured using traditional form and meter.
